"Hope on Compton: Transitional Housing."
In one of Los Angeles's most underserved communities, this 18,000-square-foot, two-story facility addresses one of the city's most pressing challenges: bridging the gap between homelessness and permanent housing with the medical care and social support that make that transition possible.

The client's need was both urgent and complex. Transitional housing alone is insufficient for individuals whose path to stability is entangled with untreated mental health conditions and chemical dependency. The facility required an integrated model — one that could deliver clinical services and supportive living under a single roof, within a realistic budget and timeline, and without the institutional character that so often undermines a resident's sense of dignity and agency.

The building is constructed entirely from volumetric steel modular units — the same system employed across the firm's housing work. The choice is deliberate: steel's inherent fire resistance, the precision of factory fabrication, and a significantly compressed construction schedule make modular an ideal fit for mission-critical projects where cost efficiency and delivery speed directly affect the people being served.

Forty dorm-style living units are organized around bright, open common areas that encourage daily interaction and shared experience. Treatment rooms and caseworker offices provide residents with direct access to essential support services, while private outdoor spaces offer moments of calm and connection to nature.

Designed and built utilizing advanced off-site manufacturing technologies, the project reduces on-site construction time while maintaining a high level of quality and precision. The result is a thoughtfully crafted environment that balances comfort and practicality to foster dignity, well-being, and community for every resident.

Currently under construction, the project affirms that thoughtful, well-engineered architecture can be a direct instrument of public health.
